Image of a plow in a field. Associated with the first plowing of the plains of Illinois - the 'plow that broke the plains'. Basically, Illinois was not farmable until a plow that could cut through the thick loam that was matted with decaying grasses was invented. John Deere did that and the plains were farmable. Interesting image. Circa 1865.
